The tree-shaped logo of the FSC, the world’s most trusted forest certification, now adorns the labels of the entire range of Follador Prosecco’s wines, marking the continuing progress of the Col San Martino-based winery’s development plan towards 100% eco-friendly production.

With yet another piece in the sustainability puzzle in place, Follador Prosecco progresses further on the path toward achieving 100% environmentally conscious production in the near future. The entire wine selection produced by the renowned winery, based in Col San Martino, north-east Italy, will now feature eco-friendly labels guaranteed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the world’s most trusted forestry certification system, which has supported sustainable forestry since 1994.

The labels are made from a mix of materials from FSC-certified forests, recycled sources and FSC-controlled wood. The operation seeks to significantly reduce the risk of materials being sourced from unacceptable or ecosystem-damaging sources.

Cristina Follador, the winery’s director of sales and marketing, said: “We’re proud to collaborate with GS Printing Group, who share our commitment to responsible forest management. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and step after step we are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint at every stage of our operations.”

To actively engage connoisseurs of their wines in their sustainability journey, each Follador Prosecco label will feature a QR code with detailed recycling instructions: by scanning the code, consumers can easily see how to properly recycle every part of the packaging – from the cork to the glass.

Safeguarding nature, and in particular trees, is an issue of particularly importance to the winery based in the province of Treviso, which for some time now has been involved in the construction of the “Follador Forest”, in collaboration with the B-Corp Treedom organisation.

Guided by the vision of siblings Michele, Cristina, Francesca and Emanuela Follador, sustainability initiatives implemented by the winery include adherence to the Sustainable Wine program – the Sustainability Management System that aims to achieve the six environmental objectives set out in regulation (EU) 2020/852; voluntary adherence to the Equalitas guidelines – Italy’s sustainability certification par excellence which governs growers, winemakers and bottlers across the winemaking supply chain; the recent installation of photovoltaic panels managed using the Regalgrid® platform; and a state-of-the-art wine Decanter, a real technological gem which eliminates the need to use adjuvants (classed as special waste) and reduces the water required during the final washing phase.
